Avocado Project 2007 Video Installation The project analyzes the human behavior of consumerism, and allows me to plant questions in the children’s minds as we consume the avocados: how much do we consume? how much do we waste? how much do we invest in replacing the resources?. The replacement takes place as soon as the avocados are consumed; the children then prepare the seeds in order to grow future trees. The children then document the growth of the avocado trees through drawings I am teaching inner city children how to plant avocado trees, and also deal with issues that affect their immediate communities and the world at large. |
